Rat Surveillance - Gets Nose Smacked!

We had a mouse eating the fruit in our fruit basket about every second night (ripe bananas and avocados being the favourite).. I saw the mouse a few times when I was up late watching tv - one night I cornered it and it dissapeared under my feet (this mouse has amazing powers). So I got your bog standard basic mousetrap and set that up - did that for about a week and didnt catch it. After about the second month I got serious - I went to Bunnings and bought a trap kit with 3 snappers, 4 glue traps and various baits with instructions on how to lay them out strategically.. caught nothing but the fruit was still being eaten. One time I set the traps up in an absolute phallanx around the fruit bowl but it still managed to avoid them and get to the fruit. I tried trap plans I'd found on the internet (I'd built a bit of respect for my arch enemy and started on some non-lethal traps) - eg the toilet roll hanging over a table with some food at the hanging end and a large bin underneath - the idea being the mouse goes in and overbalances and falls in - I came up with traps based on that myself - including an elaborate setup where there was a plank leading up to the bin edge - with a tissue between the top of the plank and some food on the other side (so it should go for the food and fall through the tissue into the bin) - no luck! Now it was getting embarrasing - I was getting comments like 'I thought you were a bright guy Dylan, how can you not catch a mouse?' So - the gloves ...
